Why Full-Color Foundations Is the Easiest Way to Start Strength Training in 2026

← Blog Home

Let me guess, you’ve tried everything to get your workouts consistent…

  • downloaded the apps
  • joined the gym
  • attended the fitness classes
  • scheduled with a workout buddy
  • bought the promising piece of fitness equipment

…but you can’t seem to make any of your plans stick.

You’re in a constant cycle of starting and stopping. You’re tired of falling off the bandwagon yet again. Workouts are something you’re supposed to be doing, but you hate trying to find time for them in your busy schedule. You know working out would really help you, but you’ve lost hope in becoming that active, strong person you dreamed of being.

You keep beating yourself up because you see inspirational Instagram posts about how you just need to “be more disciplined,” but that discipline isn’t going to do anything when you’re trying to follow a workout plan that doesn’t make sense for you.

Full-Color Foundations gets to the root of why exercise isn’t working for you and gives you a better option! FCF is my beginner strength group program that takes you from “I have no idea what I’m doing” to “I have a workout plan that works for my body… and I feel damn good about it” in just five weeks.

5 Reasons Full-Color Foundations is the Easiest Way to Start Strength Training in 2026

1. The Five Basic Strength Exercises

My #1 goal for Full-Color Foundations is to make it simple- easy to learn, easy to put into practice. One of the top reasons people fall off the fitness bandwagon is because the program they’ve chosen is too complex or demands too much time.

During the five weeks of Full-Color Foundations, we only focus on five exercises: squat, hinge, push, pull, and core. That’s it!

Because we focus on only one exercise per week in Full-Color Foundations, we can simplify the intimidating world of strength a LOT. No more seemingly meaningless exercises, no overwhelming terminology, and no workouts that take forever.

What makes these exercises special is that they’re the foundation of almost every strength training program. They strengthen some of the most common ways you move in real life- walking, bending to pick things up, carrying things, etc. They’re exercises that help your whole body move together, meaning they’re the most effective exercises you can start with.

When your workout plan matches what you do in real life, you can really tell that you’re getting stronger. Everyday things like walking up stairs, putting laundry away, or picking up your kid feel easier, and trust me, you notice!

Even as your life changes, these five basic exercises are always something you can come back to in your workouts. Once you know simple ways to put them together, fitting a workout into your days feels more accessible.

2. You Get a Teacher, Not Just a Cheerleader

Have you ever walked away from a workout or fitness class feeling like you had no idea what just happened?

When I started going to a gym, I tried to copy what the people around me were doing- I had NO CLUE! “Is this how I’m supposed to squat? That’s how Julie in front of me was doing it…. But it also doesn’t feel quite right?”

I finally started going to a weightlifting class where my coach took the time to teach me how to do each exercise. Once I felt confident with the exercises I was doing and how my body was supposed to move, my strength skyrocketed.

Yes, I’m there to help you stay excited and motivated, but I’m also there to teach you everything you need to know to feel good about doing your new exercises! The lessons in Full-Color Foundations have a structure, so you always know what’s coming next.

Each week we cover:

  • what the exercise of the week is
  • why it’s important and what muscles it strengthens
  • how to do it- all the tips that make it safe and feeling good
  • adjustments you can make so it fits your body
  • variations of the exercise so you can choose which one fits your workout experience and equipment best

No more giving desperate eyes to people trying to signal that you need help! You’ll be able to walk into a gym confident that you know what to do and how to use the weight you pick up.

3. Exercise Reviews

One of the most common things I hear before and after someone starts strength training is “How do I know I’m doing it right and I won’t hurt myself?” The fear of getting hurt is a top reason people avoid strength training, but we can take care of that with feedback from an experienced strength coach! Exercise reviews are my answer to this problem.

Even though Full-Color Foundations is a group program, I give personalized exercise reviews each week when you post them in the private Telegram chat. You get the confirmation that you’re doing it right as well as suggestions for doing the exercise in a way that feels even better. Next time you do your exercises, you feel more confident in how you’re moving.

Another sneaky reason I love it: to video, it means you have to be doing the exercise, and Full-Color Foundations is all about practice and actually doing the thing!

4. Your Body, Your Choice

Autonomy is an important part of all my coaching programs. I never dictate what you “should” be doing, and it’s always your choice to decide what and how you do your workouts. I view coaching as a partnership: I know a lot about strength training, and you know a lot about your body and what you like. Together, we create a workout plan that fits you!

This is present even in my group programs. Each week, I give you multiple variations of each exercise so you can choose which one feels best for you in that moment. It might change later on, or you might find one that fits your body really well and decide to stick with it for a long time! You can also choose what feels right for the equipment you have, whether you go to a gym, have a small home gym, or you’re using objects around the house.

The time of no pain, no gain, do it my way is over. I give you the options and you choose from there! This is why Full-Color Foundations works so well for all bodies and abilities.

5. Science-Backed Tools to Change Your Behavior

One of the biggest reasons you’re struggling to stick with a workout plan is because you’re following rules that are making it more difficult for you! These rules might sound like:

  • It’s not worth it if I can’t do a whole hour-long work out.
  • It doesn’t count if I don’t sweat a bunch or feel completely exhausted.
  • I need to _____ before I start a workout program (get in shape, do more research, start eating differently, etc.).
  • I have to look like the instructor for this exercise to be correct, even if it hurts.

The rules all have to do with your fitness mindset, which is one of the three pillars in my coaching system. Rules like the ones above keep you from working out. Strength training is about action. Unfortunately, finding the time, motivation, and excitement for working out isn’t usually there- that’s where the fitness mindset lessons in Full-Color Foundations come in!

In the lessons, I call out how these rules are holding you back from the strength you want and what you can replace them with. Each lesson is based on helping you fit strength training into your life and find it easier to actually get up and do. They’re based on proven behavior change strategies that have been studied. These are effective, and I’ve seen them change lives.

In these weekly fitness mindset lessons, we cover:

  • becoming aware of and releasing the expectations of diet culture
  • skills to help you stay motivated and work out even when you don’t want to
  • how your brain works and how you can use it to help you change your behavior
  • how to use strength training to build trust in your body

The ultimate goal of Full-Color Foundations is to make it as easy as possible for you to get stronger, and that’s what makes this program completely unique in the fitness world. Once you graduate the program, you’ll be able to say “I have a workout plan that works for my body… and I feel damn good about it!”
